About Us

Background

ActionSport Photography was formed in 1989, and has grown into one of the UK's most successful companies dedicated to providing on-site photographic services to sports and corporate event organisers. When we say "on-site" we mean that we actually produce the photographs at the event using our purpose built mobile laboratory! Oh, and by the way, we are not talking about on-site using inkjet or dye sublimation printers, but a full digital minilab using the very pinnacle of true photographic printing, silver halide chemical based prints. If it is quality that you want, there is nothing better.

Active Principals!

All photography is undertaken by the directors of the business, with nothing sub-contracted to outside parties. We believe this is essential to building a lasting, trusting relationship with our clients, who range from local companies to multi-nationals. It ensures that the quality service you receive at your events will be delivered by the people with the greatest interest in your satisfaction. We understand that you are promoting the event in order to give your guests a day to remember, and we want our photographs to provide a long lasting, good memory of the day.

Our On-Site Mobile Service

All photographs are produced in our purpose made mobile photographic laboratory. For corporate events, it enables event organisers to present the photographs to each guest on the day! All the hassle of individually identifying each participant from the photos, and then mailing/delivering the photographs to them is automatically eliminated. Event organisers save a considerable amount in costs and staff time, as well as creating a much greater impression on the guests when they receive the photos on the day! We can customise layouts with corporate logos etc so that the photos convey your message and ensure your guests remember their special day with you!

Digital or conventional? Use BOTH!

Well the first thing to say is that we offer the best of both worlds! We were among the early adopters of digital methods in 1996 and have been using film for over 20 years, so we know a thing or two about both methods! We use digital capture nowadays, as we feel this now provides a proven quality of image, but print using true chemical based silver halide printing with a full digital minilab. The quality of our prints is the highest professional standard, and should not be confused with inkjet or dye sublimation printing.

For digital work, we use the latest generation of professional digital SLR cameras and we can produce prints on-site up to 12" x 8" from our fabulous digital printers. Larger size prints are produced off site. Please note these are real photographs based on the highest quality silver halide printing process! We do not use inkjet printers as prints from these will change colour within weeks! Digital based images enable us to incorporate text, clients logos, photo-in-photo type montages etc.

Speed of output is another consideration. Our digital minilab is a twin track machine (ie it produces two prints simultaneously) and this enable print speeds of up to 1000 (yes, 1000) prints per hour! This is particularly important for corporate events, where the objective is to have the photos ready in time for giving out to the guests before they depart.

Anytime, anyplace!

The mobile laboratory was designed and built for the task, and is based in a 3.5 ton van. It is completely self contained, and takes power from a standard 13 amp socket. At most events, we can simply use an extension cable to a power socket, but if you are promoting an event in remote countryside there is a generator on-board as well. So even if you are promoting a sheep dog trial on top of a mountain, remember that anywhere a 3.5 ton van can go, we can produce photographs there!
